Examining the Evidence
for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ
As Easter approaches this year you can
expect to hear from a group called the Jesus Seminar, explaining why
the biblical account of the Resurrection is not to be believed. You
may even hear the same thing from your pastor. (See our
Winter 2003-4 Bible School for
articles explaining how the Jesus Seminar reaches their conclusions.)
But is there actual evidence you can trust
that shows—to a high degree of certainty—the Jesus did in fact die,
and then rise from the dead? The answer is yes! In fact, the evidence
is so good that a number of lawyers, having examined the evidence,
claim that they would be willing to argue it in court. (See “The

Our prayer is that the information we
present in these articles will help you to confirm your own faith,
recognize when you hear error, and stand up to the false messages you

The bodily resurrection of Christ is the
crowning proof that Jesus was who he claimed to be, God manifested in

Many university and college courses on
Christianity or comparative religion express the view that
Christianity is merely a variation of a more ancient religious theme.
They teach that Christian faith developed from or was influenced by
the ancient pagan mystery religions of Rome, Greece, and Egypt.
Therefore, the conclusion of such courses is that Christian faith is
not unique as it claims, but at best an imitation faith, claiming to
be something it really is not.
